What is a Mala?

The Mala is a traditional garland of 108 prayer beads. It is believed that every bead represents a truth, and meditating on each bead with an affirmation, or mantra, is known to bring peace of mind and has been a meditation practice for hundreds of years in certain cultures.

A Mala can be seen as a metaphor for life: a small knot between each of the beads represents a challenge between the smoother, more beautiful aspects of life. It is through our challenges that we grow to our greatest strengths. I personally feel that the knots ‘lock’ in the truth set through the intention and energetic use of the crystal within the Mala. These beauties assist us with the challenges that come our way.

Stones and crystals are both teachers and tools who assist us on our healing path we call life.  They provide support in areas where we need to heal and evolve. As you are looking through the pictures of the Malas or if you have the chance to physically touch them you will find there are certain stones that call to you. You will be more drawn and attracted to certain ones and others not so much. This is how the crystals communicate with you.

How do you make your malas?

The Malas I create are created with the pure intention of love and finding their rightful owner who will utilize the crystals to support their experience in this lifetime.

First, I hand select stones that communicate with me that they are ready to be used in this fashion. (Believe it or not, there are many crystal beads who don’t want to be created in this form. Yep, I know that sounds crazy. Welcome to my world!)

Next, I wash the stones and let them air dry.

Then I begin a process to reset their vibrational energies back to their native vibration. Over the course of their lives they have picked up energies that are not their native frequency and this is the initial process for getting them back to their original frequency.

o   First, I use Sound Healing

o   Second, I charge them in the Sunlight

o   Third, I charge them in the Moonlight (Depending on the Mala this could mean New Moon or Full Moon or both.)

Finally, it’s time to create the pattern! Prior to sitting in front of my beads I center myself and do a quick meditation calling in my guides and crystal allies who instruct me on which beads to select, what order to put them in, what color string and tassel to use and what energy to infuse the Mala with. This usually comes through as a mantra or a strong emotion. (Examples: I am Love. I trust the process and go with the flow. My heart is open and readily attracts fulfilling love. I accept myself exactly where I am in life. Money is coming to me easily and effortlessly. I am protected and encouraged to be my true self.)

When I’m making the Mala, each bead is energetically charged with the emotion/mantra and is ‘locked in’ with each knot I complete.

Once the Mala is finished, I once again charge them in the moonlight.

Finally, they are bagged with an energetically charged mix of herbs and sea salt which represent each the elemental forces (Earth, Air, Water, Fire) and correlating Angelic protection. The salt ensures that the crystals maintain their native frequency and can be used to cleanse the stones on a regular basis.

I love each and every one of the Malas I have created as if they are my own personal children. The experience of witnessing someone find their Mala, and making ones tailored for an individual is indescribable. We are so blessed to utilize the healing energies of these crystals!

Custom created Malas are created based on intuitive insight gathered during a personal discussion during an intake call. These malas also include a dedicated intuitive healing energy session.

How do i use my mala?

There are many ways one can engage the Mala. You can wear it as a necklace, bracelet, keep it on your nightstand or dresser or meditation altar.

My personal favorite is to wear it on my wrist. By starting with the tassel end, gently wrap the Mala around your wrist as many times as you can to comfortably wear it as a bracelet. If the Mala is still too large, you can twist the strand prior to wrapping the Mala. (Video coming soon!) By wearing the Mala on your left side you are setting the intention of receiving the crystal energy. Wearing it on your right side is setting the intention of giving out that energy.

Another way to engage your Mala is to use it in your meditation practice. This is a long standing practice that is completed by touching each bead while reciting a mantra or affirmation.

You can also keep the Mala in a place that is known to trigger stress like a work desk or in your car. Please be aware that some crystals fade in color when they are in prolonged sunlight so do your best to keep them protected from extreme exposure to sunlight.

How do i care for my mala?

The Malas are pretty sturdy and can withstand quite a bit of natural wear and tear. (Use common sense!) It is advised to avoid getting the Mala or tassel wet. Please be aware that some crystals fade in color when they are in prolonged sunlight so do your best to keep them protected from extreme exposure to sunlight.

Be aware that it is possible and you should expect for the Mala to eventually break. I believe that this means the crystals have served their purpose and you no longer need their support. When this happens, you have the opportunity to have them restrung or work with a new Mala for an additional fee. My very first Mala literally broke within the first month. I was devastated-- but I was also doing my own personal healing work so I wasn’t surprised that it was time to move on to a new set of crystals for support. I restrung the original Mala only to realize I wasn’t attracted to it anymore. This is when I knew it was time to work with a different set of crystals.

Please note that crystals are intended to assist you on your healing journey but are not intended to replace medical advice or support. They are helpers not slaves, you must be willing to do the work to see results.

Pricing starts at $175 for Grab-and-go Malas and $275 for custom created malas.
